Why The Pillar Project Exists
Survivors frequently encounter disconnected systems, long waiting lists, limited provider capacity, and complicated eligibility requirements. Even when services exist, reaching them can be difficult while someone is managing immediate danger, trauma, employment, childcare, transportation, or housing instability. The Pillar Project was created to help survivors navigate those barriers with informed, compassionate, and persistent support.
Our Mission
The Pillar Project provides immediate advocacy, emergency resource navigation, and long-term support for survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault throughout Baltimore and surrounding Maryland communities. We help survivors navigate complex systems, connect with trusted resources, rebuild stability, and move toward safe, independent futures.
Our Vision
A coordinated, survivor-centered support system where individuals can access advocacy, housing stabilization, mental health care, legal support, workforce development, and long-term case coordination through one connected organization.
A Survivor-Support Hub
The Pillar Project functions as a survivor advocacy and resource-navigation organization. We provide direct advocacy, crisis support, case coordination, resource navigation, job-readiness support, and professional training. When survivors need specialized services we do not directly operate — such as shelter, clinical counseling, or legal representation — we use established professional relationships to help them reach appropriate providers.
This is not a hand-off. It is a hand-hold: we follow survivors through waiting lists, eligibility requirements, appointments, and workforce goals so they are not left navigating fragmented systems alone.

Why We Exist
The Pillar Project was created to close the gap between survivors and the services that could help them. Too often, survivors receive a phone number, a website, or a list of organizations, and are left to make dozens of calls while still managing safety, trauma, work, children, and transportation.
We help survivors identify their needs, understand their options, and reach appropriate providers through warm referrals and direct professional relationships across Maryland's survivor-service community. When shelter, legal counsel, mental health care, or specialized services are required, we help survivors get there — and stay with them through the process.
Our long-term vision is a coordinated, one-stop survivor-support model that includes housing, legal, mental health, workforce, and hospital-based advocacy services directly under one roof. With growing funding and partnerships, we are steadily building toward that model.
